In good company. Note the ratchet strap. It was inop when purchased. Today after work, a friend helped me do the following:
-Mount the PPF to the chassis
-Install the exhaust manifold
-Install radiator
-Wiring: splice fan switch wires, finish installing the engine harness, wire the starter
-Odds and ends: slave cylinder, fuel lines, all fluids, etc.
Here are some photos:
Ebay coils will be gone shortly. A catback will come as well. There’s a bit of rust, but none too concerning. Well, rust is the least of my concerns. For now, it drives pretty good.

What is the diamond plate doing?

It’s best.
Half ass skid plate? I dunno. I bought it like that. It’s very low. Like “my foot doesn’t fit underneath the car and we had to use a scissor jack to get it on the lift” low.

I mean, all the ones that have engines in em run and drive. Only one isn’t roadworthy. It’s really not that bad

I don’t understand the want of that many project cars.
![]() 08/19/2020 at 08:23 |

Then don’t buy this many project cars.
Half are backup dailies. Audi is getting ready to be sold.

That Audi though ...

It’s not my thing. It’s very slow and softly sprung, understeers worse than anything I’ve ever driven, and worst of all... it’s reliable.

I have 2 project Volvos and its literally driving me insane. I couldn’t imagine that many!

5 cylinders ?

At some point you can’t work on all of them, and you become like David Tracey. Unless you’re Jay Leno and have a massive garage and a dedicated workforce, you really don’t need 5 project cars.

Exactly. For me money isn’t a big issue, I mean I’m not rich but most of the projects I’ m interested in (right now older Volvos) are cheap and parts are fairly cheap and plentiful.
I just don’t have the time, I travel a fair bit for work, I’ m going to grad school part time, and Ive got normal homeowner stuff to deal with. Also space is limited, 4 cars is definitely our max without really screwing up the parking situation in the neighborhood.

Eh, it’s kinda cool, but it finds itself in an odd intersection: too clean and rare to be daily driven, but too high miles and too damaged (some rust on wheel wells, a little body damage) for shows or scene points. It’s also expensive to modify, with nearly zero off the shelf aftermarket parts available, yet too sedate in stock form to be fun to drive. I could get a few more horses out of it with a spare cam I have laying around, but why?
